It’s travel time for the Millers again. Finally! Feels like I’ve been stuck in the same place too long. Itchy to get going! Time to head South to sell some real estate and soak up some sunshine. This permanent grey shelf-cloud in the Midwest is NOT for me. Need that Vitamin D!!
Traveling while trying to avoid my plethora of food allergies can be a challenge, and one where I have often failed. That whole “Those who fail to plan should plan to fail” thing is really true when it comes to travel foodage. We’ve become pretty good at it lately, so here’s an idea of what we’ve been packing lately.
I know shopping at Whole Foods can get ‘spensive. Check out Mambo Sprouts for some great coupon deals that you can print at home. The cool thing about Whole Foods is that you can stack a manufacturers coupon with a Whole Foods coupon to get double the savings. If you want to really score, be sure to watch the weekly sales and pair them with some of the cash-back apps like BerryCart, Shrink or ibotta. There are rare moments when everything lines up, the manufacturers coupon, the Whole Foods Coupon and sales and cash back apps, making some things FREE. Or close to it, anyway. This is how I try new things, or pick-up great travel snacks!
We usually pick-up a case (yes, a CASE) of bottled water and throw that in our trunk as well. It’s significantly cheaper to purchase a case than pay $2/per bottle at gas stations… this saves us plenty of cash on the drive because the Millers can put away some water. I’m up to about 150 ounces a day, and David is probably right behind me in that consumption too. We are nothing if not well hydrated, that’s a fact jack!
My favorite travel bag can be purchased here, at Land’s End. I know we all own a hundred tote bags, but these are so sturdy, clean easily and hold a lot of stuff. I also have the EXTRA LARGE Land’s End tote that I use as a beach bag. Comfortable to tote all those goodies down to the beach. This one is only $29.99 right now in Plum color or Turquoise. Seriously, best bags ever. I’ve been giving them as wedding gifts lately and they’re always well received!
