If you can eat it, I’m totally cool with putting it on my skin. Such is the case with the whole facial smoothie trend. A little for my face… a little for my mouth. Mmmm. I like it. I like it a lot.
I tried this energizing diy mask from Rodale’s Organic Life website. It involved a few of my favorite things… coconut oil, coffee and cinnamon. Sounds more like the Lucy latte from Primal Kitchen, count me in. The mask was a little dry and messy, especially the colder the coconut oil became. Reheating this in the microwave for a few seconds would probably be a fab idea… it would smell totally incredible anyway. Let the mask sit for 10-15 minutes then start washing it off. To get the best results, gently massage the mask as you wash it off and you’ll get some totally dope exfoliation action. You can see from my pic that there was some redness happening too, but it went away about an hour after removing the mask.
My skin totally loved this mask and has been so smooth and soft all day. My hubby is pretty stoked that he got in on the masking action as well. Dudes deserve to glow too.
Here’s the recipe I used from Rodale’s.
Mix 1 cup of coffee grounds, 1/2 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup sea salt, dash of cinnamon, and 2 tablespoons of melted coconut oil. Using a circular motion, gently apply to skin and scrub. Let mask sit on skin for 15 minutes, then rinse well. (P.S. This makes enough for an army. Consider cutting this recipe in half, or you could also use for an amazing all-over body scrub!)
If coffee isn’t your thing or you just want to buy one, shop the mask from my IG feed. Lime. Coconut. YES! It ships from a local company in Santa Rosa Beach, so that’s a bonus too.
