Y’all seem to love my travel posts. I get it… travel blogs are the best because, well, let’s face it – we all need to escape once in a while. Not all of our trips to the beach house are fun and games, they’re usually working trips. We work the majority of the day, but take an hour or two out for pool or beach time and then usually take the evening off for some fun. Evenings off aren’t part of the REALTOR® mantra back in the Midwest. We work steadily until 8-10pm most week nights. So we are grateful for the more relaxed pace of the working vacation. (P.S. As a side note for my fellow entrepreneurs, just because you WORK on vacay doesn’t mean you can write the whole thing off. My soul was recently crushed by an accountant who informed me that the purpose of the trip has to actually BE for work. A meeting. A conference. Research and Development????!!! Dear IRS, Yes I really AM researching the effectiveness of margs on the beach as a marketing ploy to be used sometime in the future.)
R & D aside, if you find yourself on the Emerald Coast, you need to visit the town of Seaside. It’s a charming little town with some of my favorite places on the coast. A locally owned bookstore, the most creative kids toy store, a sunglasses shop, the absolute most unique local grocery store/deli – get the mimosa, a concerts on the lawn venue, restaurants, ice cream shops, coffee shop and some iconic airstream trailers.
Airstream alley as I like to call it, is as delicious as it is fun to look at. The food options range from raw health foods to BBQ, grilled cheese, hot dogs, donuts and snow cones. If none of those strike your fancy, you can cross the road and find a coffee shop, hamburger joint, taco shack, a pizza place and a seafood hut. All of which are insanely delicious. If you don’t believe me, see below.
And because I really, really, really want you to visit my favorite place on earth, I’ve included a link HERE to a great rental company called Benchmark 30A. You can find lots of great homes and condos for rent. Hope to see you there!
