My baby is turning 9 today and it’s really giving me all the feels. My vet recently reminded me that German Shepherd dogs have a lifespan of 9-12 years which means my girl is getting up there in age. It’s such a bittersweet thing to celebrate today. I’m so grateful and happy we have had 9 full years with my gal, but the advanced age is really making me sad. However, we will attempt to focus on the beautiful, wonderful life that is Ana today, not her old – age. Plus, she’s healthy as can be. 🙂
I’d do anything for this dog. To be honest, it almost feels wrong to call her a dog. She’s much more than that, right? If you have a fur baby, you know. The unconditional love, the excitement EVERY SINGLE TIME you walk through the door, the snuggles and sloppy kisses… it’s an unexplainable love to be loved by a good dog. Mine is no exception. Although, she IS extremely exceptional. (Proud dog mom.)
We wanted to celebrate her birthday in style this year so we decided to throw her a little party. It started with a stylish new jacket. All cold-weather puppies need one. If nothing else, to put them back in their place a bit and remind them who’s still really in charge. (Who am I kidding? We all know she’s the boss here.) We found this reversible, quilted jacket on Amazon and it’s been a hit. At first she was pretty annoyed about having to wear this thing, but now when we pull it out of the closet, she knows it’s time for a walk and is much more the willing model. The jacket is reversible and comes in a variety of colors and sizes.
We saved the best two gifts for today though. The bark box and the puppy ice cream. The ice cream comes as a powdered mix that you add water to, then freeze. Super easy and doggies LOVE this stuff. Just make sure your spouse knows that it’s in the freezer next to the Halo top, or else you’ll go to get it out, and find it has a bite taken out of it… ahem. That didn’t happen here, just sayin!
The Bark Box is by far my favorite thing we purchased. We grabbed a trial box through Amazon to test it out, but loved it so much we signed her up for a year’s worth of them. It came with an assortment of goodies – a couple toys, some treats and a pretty creative letter which was fun for us to read. Keep scrolling for a video unboxing of the Grinch themed Bark Box. I particularly loved the names of the treats (see the video). That extra creativity made it so much more fun for the adult opening this thing. Well done, Bark Box.
As an added bonus, if you’d like to check out Bark Box yourself, click on any of the Bark Box links in this post and order one for your puppy! If you use our link, a box will be given to a shelter dog to spread the joy around! Our goal is to donate 9 boxes this year, in honor of our girl’s 9th birthday! Click HERE to get started and help us reach our donation goal! The box also comes with this antler in case you want to really peeve off your pet. Enjoy.Â
Well, that about sums up the birthday extravaganza around here. I’ll link up the Amazon jacket and ice cream for anyone interested. Happy pet gifting!
