Here it is folks. The low-down. The 5-1-1. The skinny. I’m about to spill the tea on my favorite beaches and why. Grab your straw hat and some sunscreen and let’s go!
Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort
First up, my absolute ride or die, numero uno, paradise on earth beach is…. Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. Here’s the why; Sandestin is a 2500 acre private resort. It encompasses a huge area along Choctawatchee Bay, as well as owns it’s own major stretch of private beach front. (And if you’re following along with the customary use situation, resorts or condominiums that own their beach are prime places right now – but that’s another post for another time.) But back to the beach. Sandestin has a premium location complete with a tiki bar for all those icy-cold umbrella drinks, rental beach equipment, and necessities for purchase. Forget your sunscreen – they’ve got you covered, you can purchase some right there on the beach. Kids need a snow cone, they got ’em. The kicker here is that you need to be staying in the resort or be an owner to use this beach. I do have a rental in the resort so hit me up and we can get you a place to stay!
Topsail Hill State Park
Next up, we are going to Topsail Hill State Park. Gorgeous place to see some dunes – the namesake of the park. They have full facilities for use and this is just a truly beautiful location to enjoy a day at the beach. Our favorite thing to do is grab a Publix sub sandwich on the way to Topsail and pack a beach picnic to enjoy with that view!
Gulfview Heights Beach Access
Last but not least is my super (probably not so) secret beach access. It’s called Gulfview Heights Beach Access but if you’re local, just tell your friends to meet you at the Goatfeathers Beach. Goatfeathers is a rockin’ local seafood joint. Just turn South on Gulfview Heights Street when you see Goatfeathers and when the road runs out you’ll be there. They have a pavilion and bathrooms. There are some steps involved, so keep that in mind. Bonus to this location is that you can swing into Goatfeathers on the way home and grab some locally caught seafood to grill up back at your rental!
