Fact: every wall in my new house is tan. The same, sort of flesh-toned-in-some-lights color of tan. This house is almost 5,000 sq ft. Every. Single. Wall. Is. Tan. It’s totally bumming me out and it has to go.
My mom recently re-modeled her home and the builder suggested SW High Reflective white. I’m so grateful I was able to see it in a home because that just sealed the deal for me. It’s a gorgeous, very cool, very bright white. Which is 100% what I wanted. White’s are hard, so if you can see one in a space that you like, run with it.
This home has a former 3 car garage that was converted into living space. The previous owners used it as a game room/media room but we are going to use it as our office area. We’ve a bit of a ways to go in this space, but we are excited to see it come together here soon! As you can see, it’s officially a beautiful, white, blank canvas now that I painted it. Next up is installing wood flooring that we want to paint, new light fixtures and then we can finally move our office furniture in. At some point we will look into some built-in bookshelves as well.
Below is a little inspiration photo on what I’m planning.
As for the actual painting of this room, we used this Graco X7 sprayer. It was super easy to use, clean-up is fairly easy (hook it up to a hose and it does half the work for you!) and saved me so much time. It took about 2.5 hours total to paint the walls twice and the ceilings once. My critique of the sprayer is that it should pick up the paint bucket for you so you can wheel it around but we couldn’t get this feature to work for us. Big bummer because it’s a royal paint to drag a 5 gallon bucket around and try to keep the paint intake tubes in the bucket while you’re on the move. (Translation, we spilled some paint on the floor.) This thing feels very powerful and does a nice, quick job. It does create quite a bit of spray in the air so I did wear a respirator and paint suite. Overall, I will definitely use this again. We do want to paint the exterior of our new home, plus our new cabins on Chain of Lakes, and the cost to rent this machine for a few days justifies the purchase. However, I’m not sure I’d recommend it for painting a room here or there in your house.
